Confirmed History

In 1999, fragments of the asteroid Ulysses fell to Earth, devastating the Usean continent and intensifying refugee crises and political conflict. Stonehenge was a disaster-defense system of eight large railguns built through international cooperation. Erusea later seized it and converted it into a strategic anti-aircraft weapon. The Continental War of 2003 was closely linked to the political imbalance that followed the disaster.

Central Research Hypothesis

The disaster drove the construction of megaprojects and military infrastructure, along with the repurposing of technology, helping shape Strangereal's distinctive military technology tree. This is an interpretive approach, not an official claim that every superweapon originated with Ulysses.

Research Questions

  • How do disaster-defense megaprojects become militarized? Stonehenge is a key case.
  • How can a disaster indirectly cause war through refugees, public finances, and geopolitics?
  • Which superweapons predate 1999 and must not be mistakenly attributed to the disaster?
  • How does this history inform the settings of 04, 6, 7, and 8?
